“I’ve had some trials that would have made the average motherfucker jump out a window a long time ago,” Jeezy had said earlier. “But if you wake up one morning and say, ‘I can’t do it no more,’ then it’s all over. That’s why I wake up every morning and say, let’s do this shit. Let’s get it.”
Being Da Snowman sounds stressful!
Although you shot at me twice before I left you, I did not want to hear of your being hurt, and am glad you are still living.
A freed slave’s letter to his former master. Incredible.
“Bob Dylan” is not his real name. The “Ramones” were not related. “Sun Ra” was from Alabama, not Saturn. The Strokes’ dads are not plumbers. “Rick Ross”… look, we don’t have time for this. Yes, Internet, and God bless you for devoting most of the past half-year exclusively to pointing this out, Lana Del Rey is a pose, a persona, a version 2.0, at least, the contrivance of a messy, wayward, unformed, aspiring pop star rummaging through closets and clutching at borrowed pearls.

Wow. Really like this two-piece. Sounds exactly like a hybrid of Death From Above 1979 and Weezer. No wonder.

Rare is the German film I look forward to seeing. Wondering if there are more running thrillers in German cinema like this one and Run Lola Run.
Tyler Cowan - “Be suspicious of stories”
Economists are the ultimate rebels, one of the few actually willing to buck trends and orthodoxy. But that’s probably just a story I tell myself.

A blog reader sent a message to her congressman, Tim Walz, complaining about SOPA, the bill that aims to protect intellectual property rights online that has sent many internet folks into a tizzy.
Here is the response she got from Congressman Walz:
…SOPA approaches the problem as a criminal matter when in fact, study upon study shows that online piracy is best dealt with as an economic matter. Instead of using the Justice department as a sledgehammer amongst the delicate weeds of the internet, corporations must embrace the free market and adapt their business models to compete in a new reality. The ability to adapt and compete is the cornerstone of capitalism, we should promote this rather than rushing to insert ourselves in the market in ways that could severely disrupt internet commerce and progress.
This is very very smart stuff, Congressman.
Levitt responds:
There are not a whole lot of things that I think governments are particularly good at doing, but protecting property rights is at or near the top of that list.
I know this is an issue with very real stakes, but man, is this an intellectually stimulating debate.
Reggie Watt’s unique comedic stylings. Funny in a completely new way (to me, at least).
